Are StubHub Tickets Overpriced?

StubHub prices are often higher than they need to be. That doesn’t always mean tickets are “too expensive” — it usually means the listing is inflated by fees, timing, or seller markup. Before you buy, it’s worth checking whether the exact same seats can be found for less elsewhere.

Why StubHub Ticket Prices Are Often Higher

StubHub is a resale marketplace, not a primary ticket seller. Every listing you see is set by an individual seller, not by the team, artist, or venue.

Prices tend to look high for a few common reasons:

  • Fees are added at checkout. What looks like a good price upfront can increase significantly once service fees are included.

  • Sellers pad prices to protect margins. Many sellers list higher than their true bottom price knowing fees and competition will eat into profit.

  • Timing matters. Prices are often highest immediately after tickets go on sale or when demand spikes due to news, playoffs, or tour announcements.

  • Not all exchanges show the same inventory. The same seats may be listed cheaper elsewhere at the exact same time.

These factors don’t mean you’re overpaying — but they do mean it’s smart to check.

How to Check if a StubHub Listing Can Be Beaten

If you already have a StubHub listing pulled up, you don’t need to guess whether it’s a good deal.

You can submit the exact listing (event, section, row, and price), and I’ll check whether the same seats are available for less.

There’s no obligation to buy.
If it can’t be beaten, I’ll tell you that too.
